CONNAUGHT RANGERS (PENSIONS) ACT, 1953.


AN ACT TO AMEND THE CONNAUGHT RANGERS (PENSIONS) ACTS, 1936 AND 1948. [18th March, 1953.]

BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:—

Principal Act.

1. —In this Act “the Principal Act” means the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Act, 1936 (No. 37 of 1936).

Increase of service pensions and disability pensions.

2. —(1) A pension to which this section applies shall be increased by fifty per cent.

(2) An increase under this section shall commence as from the 1st day of January, 1953.

(3) This section applies to—

(a) a service pension payable under the Principal Act, and

(b) a disability pension so payable.

Termination of suspensions.

3. —(1) Subsection (1) of section 18 of the Principal Act is here by repealed.

(2) This section shall have effect as on and from the 1st day of January, 1953.

Short title and collective citation.

4. —(1) This Act may be cited as the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Act, 1953.

(2) The Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Acts, 1936 and 1948, and this Act may be cited together as the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Acts, 1936 to 1953.
